Boy Scouts of the Philippines National Office Participated in the NetHope Internet Society Foundation and Cisco Systems Disaster Telecommunications Training (DRT) and became instructors for DRT. The following week, National Employees of Boy Scouts of the Philippines came back as instructors to facilitate the course to participants from Government, Non-Government, and Private Sector.
The training focused on capacity building for Emergency Telecommunications during a disaster and at the core of the training was hands on with equipment and real time problem solving in a disaster like scenario. In attendance was the head of ICT for Boy Scouts of the Philippines and the Program head for JOTA/JOTI. Together, radio technology combined with satellite technology proved to be a strong bond and will be the future of disaster response within the country. On 27 May, DX1MC partnered with W1PTG and DX2AFP to conduct an amateur radio seminar for over 60 Boy Scouts and Scout Leaders.
NTC Requires a radio seminar to be held before a person is eligible to take the NTC written exam and this seminar serves as that seminar. The elements were covered by Scout and Non-Scout leaders and helped youth understand what radio is and how its effective. This seminar was in partnership with National Eagle Scout Association of the Philippines (NESAPH) and it was an honor for DX1MC to participate in facilitating the seminar so that Scouts may take the NTC Amateur Radio Exam. W1PTG has offered testing for the FCC exam to Scouts so that a scout could be licensed in two countries. W1PTG members provided support to the youth and community as facilitators at the amateur radio training and certification held for the National Eagle Scouts Association of the Philippines (NESAPH) on 2023-05-27 at the FEU Roosevelt Rodriguez campus. This seminar is part of the requirements for amateur radio testing with the National Telecommunications Commission of the Philippines.
