During JOTA/JOTI 2022, Manila Council Amateur Radio Club hosted its first official JOTA/JOTI activity as a club and partnered locally with DU1CI to provide additional help with the activities. We had over 200 scouts from the council participate and scouts were able to communicate with thousands of scouts from around the world. Our council partnered with WB4SA in Orlando Florida to introduce scouts from the Philippines to scouts in the USA. It was a huge success to see get scouts to communicate with each other from around the globe.

Manila Council - Boy Scouts of the Philippines invited Compass Amateur Radio Club to facilitate the Amateir Radio Orientation that is required by NTC to familiarize radio enthusiasts with radio communication.
Compass Amateur Radio Club was approached by Manila Council because Compass amateur Radio Club has many members that are a part of the council as part of Rover Circle 25. Compass Amateur Radio Club was gracious to grant Manila Councils request for training as this orientation is the very first requirement towards getting an Amateur Radio License. At first, Manila Council was expecting just a few people to sign up for the orientation that will help prepare scouts for the amateur radio exam but after a few days, Manila Council had over 110 people sign up for the orientation. Due to the generosity of Compass Amateur Radio Club, Manila Council Scouts and Scouters have the chance to begin their journey in Amateur radio. The overwhelming response from the scouts means that Manila Council has a bright future in helping inspire youth to be Amateur Radio Operators. The first batch of scouts is primarily made up of teachers who are hopeful to take the Amateur Radio Exam for their Class C License. This will enable the teachers to help facilitate STEM learning and to further inspire and help youth. Manila Council is hopeful that youth will be heavily involved in the hobby and that youth can take the lead in inspiring their peers to learn, be outstanding citizens of the world, and take on leadership roles within the community. ![]() Many years ago on this day of July 28, we lost our entire Scout contingent in a plane crash while they were on their way to the 11th World Scout Jamboree. Words cannot express how much pain and grief this caused the entire country of the Philippines. Today we now know them as national heroes and that is why We have streets named after them in Kansas City. Moving forward, we are Scouts or known to be resilient and part of that resilient is moving forward while I’m holding the scout house and scout law. So I chose today, 28 July 2021, to donate almost 1,000,000 pesos worth of amateur radio equipment to help progress education and training in emergency services, science, technology, engineering, and math. We must continue to move forward in a positive way so that we might have a bright future through our youth of today. These donations are going to help progress in Manila Council in the future. The Philippines is one of the hardest countries in terms of the most amount of disasters sitting in one year. We need to be here prepared and this equipment will help us do just that. "Laging Handa!"
